There’s no two ways about it: understanding object oriented programming is hard!
We all know the feeling. But eventually, if you stick with it, things suddenly click-and boy, is that an amazing feeling.

Description :So that’s my goal with this massive video series (separated into three cheap purchases for your convenience.)
My job is to help someone, possibly you, finally dig into Object Oriented Programming, and, not only understand the concepts, but also understand WHEN and HOW you would actually use these techniques.
We start at the very beginning
* What is a class? What is an object?
* What are the differences between the two? Are they the same?
* How to create your first class.
* Understand the syntax.
And then, slowly, we move on to more in depth reviews of:
* The Static Keyword
* Encapsulation
* Inheritance
* Child classes
* Converting a procedural based set of functions into a reusable class.
* Why it’s essential to properly document core code with DocBlocks.
And Finally …
The series concludes as we build a MySQL database wrapper class from scratch. Along the way, we’ll learn the pitfalls of creating such classes, and why it’s extremely important to leave all specifics outside of your class.
I hope you enjoy it!
All videos were recorded in HD at 1280 × 720, for optimal viewing.
Contents
1. Chapter 1 – Introduction and OOP First Steps
2. Chapter 2 – What are Objects and Classes. What’s the relationship between the two.
3. Chapter 3 – How to Perfectly Document your Code with DocBlocks
4. Chapter 4 – What is Encapsulation
5. Chapter 5 – The Static Keyword
6. Chapter 6 – Inheritance / Creating Child Classes
7. Chapter 7 – Building a MySQL Wrapper Class (Parts 1 and 2)

Tuning Linux for Virtual Machines for performance

Tuning Linux for Virtual Machines for performance
Genre: eLearning | 109 MB
This session will take the attendees through a number of ways to optimize Linux virtual machines for performance, using strategies that improve individual VM performance as well as the global performance of their VMware vSphere environment.
Most of these topics will be technical in nature, such as aligning disk partitions, changing the disk queue elevators, configuring NTP, etc. However, among the technical points I will also touch on policy and softer topics, such as scheduling backups so they are not simultaneous, using multiple smaller VMs to help spread workloads out, thinking about ways to reduce disk I/O for applications, etc. I am aiming to augment what otherwise would be a technical checklist with relevant and informative commentary, hopefully answering the “why” and “when” questions rather than just “how.” While my points will indicate how to implement these tips, a basic level of familiarity with Linux, specifically command-line interfaces and editors, will be assumed.

Bob Plankers, Virtualization Architect, University of Wisconsin-Madison
